NO TO TRUMP, NO TO WAR

NO TO TRUMP, NO TO WAR

US President Donald Trump is now said to be coming to Britain on Friday 13th July, although not the royal visit with trimmings initially envisaged, due to strong opposition to that. His visit will spark many protests. For the Stop the War Coalition, Trump means war.

So far he has:-

  • caused a frightening stand-off with nuclear-armed North Korea
  • bombed Syria, already the most bombed place on earth. It is also an extremely dangerous place given the involvement of two major nuclear-armed super powers, including Russia.
  • tweeted that the US “must greatly expand its nuclear capability” – after all it only has 7,300 nuclear warheads!
  • escalated US military presence in Afghanistan, a war that never finished.

His support for Israeli PM Netanyahu has done much damage to any prospects of peace and justice in the Middle East. Thousands of innocent Palestinians are suffering right now in Gaza. The death toll  has risen to over 100 and thousands of people have been left wounded, stranded and desperately in need.

On Tuesday 26 June  – 7pm at Friends Meeting House, Upper Goat Lane, Norwich NR2 1EW, Stop the War will be hosting a public meeting with the following speakers: JOHN REES,   Stop the War Officer,  & MAYA EVANS, Voices for Creative  Non-Violence. All are welcome to attend.
